Terms of Service

1. Acceptance

By accessing or using MyReefPal, you agree to these terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

2. The service

MyReefPal provides reef-keeping tools, including AI-assisted coral and marine species identification, coral reference browsing, store availability links, calculators, and tank tracking. Identification results are generated from images, reference data, and automated systems on a best-effort basis. They should not be treated as definitive scientific identification.

3. Accounts

You may use some features as a guest and may need an account for saved identifications, tank tracking, or other account features. You are responsible for your account credentials and for activity on your account. You must provide accurate registration information and keep it current.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Abuse, overload, or interfere with the service
• Attempt to bypass rate limits or usage restrictions
• Upload content you do not have the right to upload or that is illegal, harmful, abusive, deceptive, invasive of privacy, or infringing
• Use automated tools to scrape or bulk-access the service
• Reverse-engineer, probe, copy, or attempt to extract our models, embeddings, prompts, source code, databases, or reference data
• Use MyReefPal to make legal, regulatory, veterinary, animal-welfare, import/export, conservation, or biosecurity decisions without qualified independent advice
• Misrepresent AI-generated or best-effort results as verified expert determinations

5. Usage limits

Guest users may perform up to 3 identifications per day. Registered users may perform up to 15 identifications per day. We reserve the right to adjust these limits at any time.

6. Uploaded content

You retain ownership of images, notes, and other content you upload or enter. By submitting content, you grant MyReefPal a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, reproduce, process, analyse, display to you, and create technical outputs from that content as needed to operate, secure, support, and improve the service.

You represent that you have the rights and permissions needed to submit your content. Do not upload images containing people, private information, or third-party material unless you have permission. We may remove content or restrict access if we believe it violates these terms or creates legal, security, or operational risk.

7. AI and accuracy

Identifications, explanations, confidence scores, morph suggestions, care information, and availability data may be incomplete, outdated, or incorrect. MyReefPal does not guarantee any result, store listing, price, stock status, or care recommendation. Always verify important information with qualified experts and the relevant seller, authority, or professional before acting on it.

8. Reference images and store links

Reference images and store listings may come from third-party sources and are shown for comparison, attribution, reference, and availability discovery. MyReefPal does not claim ownership of third-party images or product data. Links to source products are provided as a convenience, and third-party sites are responsible for their own content, terms, privacy practices, pricing, stock status, and fulfilment.

9. Intellectual property

MyReefPal, including its design, software, databases, workflows, and non-user content, is owned by MyReefPal or its licensors and is protected by applicable intellectual property laws. Except as allowed by the service, you may not copy, redistribute, sell, scrape, bulk download, or create competing datasets from MyReefPal content without permission.

10. Availability and changes

We may change, limit, suspend, or discontinue any part of the service at any time. We may also update models, reference data, usage limits, supported file types, and features. We are not responsible for losses caused by service downtime, data loss, third-party failures, or changes to the service.

11. Disclaimers

The service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory, including warranties of accuracy, reliability, merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain disclaimers, so some of this section may not apply to you.

12. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, MyReefPal will not be liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, special, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost data, animal loss, livestock harm, regulatory issues, purchasing decisions, or reliance on identification results. To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim relating to the service is limited to the greater of the amount you paid to use MyReefPal in the 12 months before the claim or GBP 100.

13. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold MyReefPal harmless from claims, losses, liabilities, damages, costs, and expenses arising from your content, your use of the service, your breach of these terms, or your violation of law or third-party rights.

14. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these terms, create risk for the service or other users, or use the service in a way that may expose MyReefPal to legal, security, or operational harm. You may stop using the service at any time.

15. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, unless mandatory consumer protection laws in your location require otherwise.

16. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. If changes are material, we will take reasonable steps to notify registered users, such as by email or a notice in the service. Continued use of MyReefPal after updated terms take effect means you accept the updated terms.
